Hello my fans, friends, relatives and everyone around the world. I would like to inform you that I'm safe here in Tokyo.
When the quake occurred on friday March 11th around 14:45 Japan time, me and other band members of African Express were in a bullet train (SHINKANSEN) going to Okayama and Yamaguchi for a live tour. Somewhere in the middle just after passing Kyoto, the train suddenly stopped and got announcement says that there was an earthquake somewhere so we've ordered to stop here for a while. After about 30 minutes, we got green light to move. We managed to have our first show in Okayama and it went well. We noticed how big the quake was when we went to hotel after the show. I got really shocked when I saw the news and pictures of tsunami on TV.
Trying to call to Tokyo to find out if our families are okay, but, no line was working. I tried to send an email, the email went but no immediately reply. So, we just had to say in hotel and watch the news. About 4am, I got call telling me that in my house everybody was safe and my house also was safe but, my studio was messed up. But any way, that's nothing as we all people alive and safe.
Our big concern now this nuclear disaster. Although Fukushuma where these troubled nuclear reactors are located are not very near Tokyo where I live, but it's not too far either. According of expats, the radiation has start to arrive in some part of Tokyo, so......just waiting and see!.
Any way, I would like to thank everyone who showed their love and care for me by phoning, email and asking me and other about my safety.
Thank you and I love you all.
Fresh Jumbe
